You Can Score, Gryffindor!
This pennant is a quick project that helped make our Harry Potter theme come to life for our party guests. It only involves three seams, so don’t let the sewing scare you away. Whether you’re decorating for a party, or just want to proudly display your Gryffindor pride for all to see, I’ll have you waving your burgundy and gold pennant in no time!

Ollivander’s Wand Bag
The days leading up to my daughter’s Harry Potter birthday party were all about the finishing touches. At the top of the list was making an Ollivander’s bag for each guest. I wanted them to feel as if they had just gone shopping at Ollivander’s wand shop in Diagon Alley. So while the wizarding world treats were baking, I came up with a super-easy way to make wand bags.

Advanced Potion [Bottle] Making
Potions might not have been Harry’s favorite subject, but the guests at my daughter’s Harry Potter birthday party went wild when they realized that had the opportunity to mix a potion. Here’s how I made the potion bottles for the ingredients that they needed for the Felix Felicis recipe.

Write On!
If you’re looking for DIY Harry Potter party favors, you’ve come to the write, ahem, right place. I love making party favors almost as much as I love planning parties. Although my goal is always to make beautiful party favors that I know my guests will enjoy, I get really excited when I can make them quickly and easily so that I can move on to the next DIY project on my to-do list. This DIY quill pen checks both boxes.

Better Be Gryffindor!
At the end of our daughter’s Harry Potter party, her guests received a bag with a Gryffindor notebook and a quill pen. After all, school supplies are a must for all serious Hogwarts students! Luckily, I had a few tricks up my sleeve that made making the notebooks a breeze, even for a muggle like me.

Ollivander’s Wand Box
Chalk it up to the fact that I worked as a packaging designer many moons ago, but I couldn’t have imagined presenting our wand party favors in anything but the Ollivander’s signature wand boxes. The children went wild when they found them. I guess their reaction proves the power of branding and packaging, even in the wizarding world!

Accio Wand!
One of my first DIY projects for my daughter’s Harry Potter birthday party was making a wand for each of her guests. I started out by researching the wands that the actors used in the movies. And that’s how I found myself buried in internet quicksand faster than you can say Lumos! The more I looked, the more information I found, and the more intrigued I became. So naturally, I took the plunge and decided to faithfully recreate the wand props. Initially, I second-guessed myself. Was it possible? Did I have enough time to pull it off?

The Boy Who Lived
Much like her mother, my daughter had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the world of Harry Potter (metaphorically speaking, of course). I knew she would love the books as much as I did, and I couldn’t wait to share them with her. Seven books, eight movies, and a Hermione Halloween costume later, I think it is safe to say that I was right. When she asked for a Harry Potter-themed birthday party, I was only too happy to grant her wish.

Hop Along Crossbody Bag
Whether it’s used for collecting eggs during an Easter egg hunt or as an everyday carryall, this bunny crossbody bag is perfect for spring. Although this project will require a little bit more time, I promise that the extra work will be worth it when you see the smile on your little one’s face!.

All Ears Easter Basket
Every Easter, I look forward to dying eggs with my daughter. I love setting up the egg hunt on Easter morning and watching her search high and low for the last few that, for some reason, are always nearly impossible to find. As I started planning for this year’s egg hunt, it occurred to me that the only thing missing from our annual event is the Easter basket. We’ve always gotten by with using one of her small baskets that functions as her pencil holder for the remaining 364 days of the year. While this basket has always gotten the job done, I wanted to change things up a bit this year. The best part is that you can create one of these adorable bunny baskets for your egg hunt in just under an hour. Let’s hop to it!
